Pro Evolution Soccer 2011

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 (officially abbreviated as PES 2011 and known as World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2011 in Asia) is an association football video game in the Pro Evolution Soccer series developed and published by Konami with production assistance from the Blue Sky Team. The game was announced on 9 February 2010 and was released on the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on 30 September 2010 in the European Union and 8 October 2010 in the United Kingdom. The versions of Wii, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable were released on 28 October 2010. The UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League are featured within the game, and for the first time in the series, UEFA Super Cup and CONMEBOL's Copa Libertadores will be sy licensed.
The first trailer was released on 4 May 2010, while an E3 trailer was released in June 2010, showing some of the new features of the game. The game also sees the return of Lionel Messi as its cover star.It is currently the last game to feature the Argentine footballer as it cover star. ITV's Jim Beglin has been implemented as new co-commentator to Jon Champion for PES 2011. A demo of PES 2011 was released for PC and PS3 on 15 September 2010. The demo allowed users to play ten minute games with four teams available: FC Barcelonaand Bayern Munich or Copa Libertadores pair Chivas de Guadalajara and SC Internacional. A video presentation was also included after each match outlining the s game's content in readiness of the game's UK launch on 8 October 2010.

New features

  • Total Control: PES has enhanced the 360 degree passing ratio, offering unprecedented levels of control over every pass, shot, throw-in, through-ball, and lofted through-balls. This allows users to pass the ball into space, and move their play with total freedom. Players must precisely weight their passes and second-guess the runs of their team-mates and exploit their movement. Players can apply pressure on opponents to force them off the ball.
  • Shot and Stamina Gauge: In addition to the generic power gauge, the shot and stamina metre details the player's level of fitness. Constantly sprinting will affect the player's movements and will have an adverse effect on his stats, with passes going awry and a loss of pace.
  • New Defender AI: Defenders now hold their positions naturally, no longer chasing any ball that enters their area; preferring to close down the attacker and force them into a mistake.
  • Improved Goalkeepers: Players now have more control over their goalkeeper. This greater control allows for quick roll-outs, saves, improved accuracy with goal kicks, and precision ball distribution to make quicker breaks or playing down the clock easier.
  • Animation and Player Physics: PES has reworked every element of in-game animation. These additions will become clear before even kick-off, with the players enjoying more natural movements, with more realistic acceleration and inertia. The physicality between players is also improved, which was a priority requested in PES forums. Jostling and blocking now looks much better, while there is a larger variety of convincing tackling styles. Ambient animation also adds immensely to the in-game atmosphere, as players behave realistically when off the ball, and walk and run with a variety of individual styles. PES 2011 on the PSP has commentary and the players coming onto the pitch and real stadiums instead of none on the PSP.
  • Stadium Editor: The stadium editor allows the player to create his own stadiums. One will be able to edit the stands by selecting preset built structures, seat colours, the adboards and hoardings, the turf style (similar to Pro Evolution Soccer 2008), the architecture and roofing of the stands, whether there's a running track, plain ground, or grass around the pitch. One can also select to have fencing near the seats similar to certain stadia present in Germany and other parts of the world. Once all that has been put together, the user can now choose the setting for the stadium. The user is given the option to specify a background layout, with a variety of both urban and rural backdrops. After that, there is a possibility of adding a background image, with stock items including city scenes - and a mountain range that looks similar to the one seen in the background on the PES 3 intro. With this tool it should be possible to recreate many different stadiums from all over the world with lots of variation in style. There are currently around 25 stadiums in PES 2011 (not all licensed ones). This is more than PES 2010, which had 22. There will be a total of 25 slots to create stadiums, giving a grand total of 50 possible stadiums.
  • Speed of Play: The new level of control means that PES 2011 enjoys a more considered pace of play, which varies dependent on situations. The game will burst into life as counter-attacks come into play, but players can dictate the pace via slow build up or exploiting available space to surge forward. It is harder to make long runs from midfield, and successful play will depend on making quick passes to make room.
  • Aesthetics: Facial animation has been enhanced, but the key advances are over 1,000 all-new animations which have been recreated from the ground up using over 100 hours of motion captured footage. Every aspect of player movement has been reworked, with more organic runs, turns, throw-ins, tackles, and interaction. The way players speed up and slow down is also more natural, while replays display elements of motion blur that bring the user's saved goals to vivid life.
  • Tactical and Strategy: The sheer number of options available in the PES series has established it as a remarkably flexible simulation, allowing players to stamp their playing style on each match. The PES Productions team has implemented an all new "drag and drop" mechanism that can be used in every aspect of team management, not just substitutions or formation changes. These settings are also animated to promote better understanding of the plays that have been altered. Option to predefine team play style every 15 minutes also added.
  • Feint settings: PES offers a wide range of subtle skills, feints and turns, but PES 2011 allows users to map their favourite move sequences to the right stick, making them more accessible than ever before.
  • Master League Online: Master League offers an all-new challenge, as users are invited to try their hand against other managers online.PES 2011 marks the online debut for its much-loved Master League element, with players bidding against each other for the world's best players, and attempting to build a squad that can compete with the best against online peers all over the globe.
  • Other Edit Features: PES 2011 does not feature a boot editor. Boots and balls will be added by Konami through updates like PES 2010. One is be able to create teams, stadiums, and even s leagues (for use with offline game modes such as Become a Legend, League/Cup, and Master League) with qualification structures. In addition, the user will be able to edit the league emblems too. This is all on top of the current edit mode system that is present in PES 2010.

Updates

Version 1.01

On 22 October 2009, the first patch for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions of the game was released between 10:00 and 12:00 (GMT). The "Legends," "Community," and "Competition" online modes were added.

Version 1.02

On 9 November 2009, a patch for World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2010 was released at 6:00 (GMT). The patch updated the Japan national team kits and various team squads.A patch for PES 2010 was released on 17 November 2009, which fixes the problem of edit data reverting to default when content is downloaded. On 24 November 2009, another patch for PES 2010 was released, including graphical additions and a roster update.

Version 1.03

The update makes the game's formation settings easier to use, and also adds icons to show the connectivity status of online players. All settings can now be saved and stocked data will be loaded automatically, speeding up play immediately. Likewise, the new connectivity icons will show the user as a grey icon, with green, yellow, and red icons detailing the quality of the opponent’s connection, with red being the worse. The update also improves match making between users of the PC-DVD version of the game with different processors.

Version 1.04 & 1.05

The new update was released on 16 February 2010 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The latest update files brings every club team roster in line with all changes and transfers made up to 15 January. Some player parameters were updated in line with their performance in the first half of the season and a new boot design was included. However, when implementing the new Download Contents, all save data created before the update remained with certain Edit Data reverting to default. Player and team data will remain edited, while player registration and formation data will revert to Default. Deleting the Download contents from the system menu will invalidate any save data created after its implementation.
It was revealed on 17 February 2010 that the new update contained incorrect data, and some players' free kick motion do not appear properly. When any of these players are used in a match, the game may not perform properly, and PES would like the player to refrain from using these players until the problem is addressed. PES are currently in preparation for releasing the corrected data, which will address the problem once it is applied to the game, and they would like to ask the player not to remove any game data. They are making every effort to release the corrected data later this week, and the schedule will be announced once fixed. They sincerely apologize for any inconveniences caused by this problem.
On 19 February 2010, a fixed version of the update was released, concerning the inadequate free kick motion, and included a newer better transfer update.

Version 1.06

The update includes new ball UEFA Champions League Final Madrid 2010, new ADIDAS F90 Unint Messi boots and some tweaking to the rosters.

Version 1.07

An update containing various new international kits was released on June 8. It contained updated squads for some international teams, except: Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, Scotland (Adidas new sponsor) and Turkey.

Reception

The game has received positive reviews. Greg Howson of The Guardian gave PES 2010 a favourable review, stating, "it has quickly became obvious that on the pitch — ultimately where it matters most, of course — PES simply plays the more satisfying and entertaining game of football [in comparison to FIFA 10]. When it comes to the basic on-pitch action there looks to be a clear winner". IGN gave the game a 8.7/10, while PSM3 gave the game a 89. Gamespot, however, gave the PS3 and 360 versions a 6.5.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (also known as Winning Eleven 10 and Winning Eleven X for Xbox 360 in Japan, Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 in the United States) is one of Konami's highly successful Pro Evolution Soccer franchise. Released on 27 October 2006 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and PC platforms and following on the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable on 1 December 2006, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is the 6th edition of the series for the PlayStation 2, 2nd for the PlayStation Portable and 4th for PC. This year features Pro Evolution Soccer 6 making its debut on the Nintendo DS and the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 version features improved graphics, but retains gameplay similar to the other console versions. The edit mode has been stripped down for the Xbox 360 release, due to time restrictions. The graphics engine on the PC does not utilise the next-gen 360 engine but will again be a direct conversion of the PlayStation 2 engine.
A Bundesliga license was supposed to be a feature of the game but Konami were forced to remove the Bundesliga license, which means the Bundesliga is not present in PES6, not even as a series of unlicensed teams, with the exception of FC Bayern Munich who were sy licensed with the omission of their shirt sponsor T-Home.

New features

International Challenge Mode

PES6 marks the first time the International Challenge Mode has been included on the PES Series. Usually this is seen on the Japanese version - Winning Eleven - where you play as Japan and take them through the qualifiers to the International Cup and then attempt to win it. On PES, however, you have the ability to choose any playable nation on the game. The user can only play the qualifiers from Europe ,Asia ,South America, and North/Central America. Although the tournament is not licensed, the qualifiers have a lot of similarities to the FIFA World Cup qualification process:
  • A cross-playoff is used between a South American team and an Oceanian team, and a North American team plays an Asian team.
  • There is the same number of qualifiers on the game from each region as there is in the real World Cup. e.g., 14 qualify from Europe.
  • The qualifiers from South America are the same - 10 teams play each other twice with the top 4 qualifying and 5th place entering the cross-playoff.
  • The qualifiers from North America are the same - 6 teams play each other twice with the top 3 qualifying and 4th place entering the cross-playoff.
Team selection can be changed before each game and the player can choose from any player with the eligible nationality.
The International Challenge mode is only available in the PlayStation 2 and PC versions of PES6. The Xbox 360 and PSP versions do not include this mode.

Leagues

Unlicensed
  • England Premier League
Licensed
  • France Ligue 1
  • Italy Serie A
  • Netherlands Eredivisie
  • Spain La Liga

Random Selection Match

Also new to PES6 is the Random Selection Match. In this mode, the user can pick up to either four clubs/nations or one region/league. Once selected, the computer picks a random selection of players from the teams or region for the player's squad. The lineup is selected automatically, although players can choose to let the computer to pick another random selection. This was not included in the Xbox 360 version, presumably because of time restrictions.

PES shop

  • Players are available as always, but there have been many more added (all unlicensed, but based on real players). It's not only retired "legendary players" that can be bought, Kerlon and Freddy Adu, who are still active, are both available.
  • Costumes can be bought. The Ostrich and Raptor costumes have the players riding them. The Penguin costume has the player in a penguin suit. When riding the raptors, they shoot, header, control, pass and do all the hard work, but their shooting ability is much less than a normal player.
  • Gameplay frames, new hairstyles, new goal celebrations, and new stadiums are other new features available in the PES Shop.
  • The PES Shop is present on all versions of the game, with the exception of the Xbox 360 version

Network

Groups have been introduced on the PES Network. A player can join/create a group that can gain points by playing together. Groups can play each other in rival matches. If a player creates a group, they manage who's in and who's out, the team name, and who else can allow others to join and matches. A player can join a group by applying to join or accepting an invitation from another player. If the leader accepts, they are in the group. Only ten are allowed in one group at first, but there can potentially be 30 in a group at one time. Groups can reach levels with the highest level to progress to is Level 14. When you achieve higher levels, you will unlock different costumes (penguin, dinosaur, and ostrich) and classic national teams. Also, you can achieve extra member spaces in your group when you go up in level.
The Network capabilities have since been relinquished.

Platform differences

It should be noted that though the Xbox 360 version lacks dressing, it is the only version with a sy analogue Manual Pass feature, as well as much more sophisticated ball physics compared to the PS2 version and can therefore be argued to be the ultimate version in terms of gameplay as well as an online community that continues to have matches available all of the time. Even to this very day several years after the release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and onwards, marking the point where the series underwent significant changes to the gameplay that remain in the series to this day.

Critical response

In 2006, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 got a perfect 10/10 score in the Official PlayStation 2 Magazine UK, which beat FIFA 07 (9/10 in the same magazine). However, the PSP version of the game ranked beneath the FIFA 07 PSP version due to slow loading times and an incomplete editor. Hyper's Eliot Fish commends the game for its "tighter dribbling [and] refined Master League" but criticises it for its commentary.

Notes

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 marks the last in a sequence for the Pro Evolution Soccer and even International Superstar Soccer series. Although the series started earlier, upon release on the Playstation console, International Superstar Soccer Pro, a version of the game was produced that began to slowly evolve with each annual revision within the series. Starting in 1997, and spanning 10 years, each game in the series (which was at the time widely considered to be light years ahead of FIFA's efforts) was piece by piece becoming more tight, more responsive and ultimately a much more complete football sim. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 on the Xbox360 (being released as a souped up port of the PS2 version and as such having more detailed gameplay, in spite of superficial omissions such as edit mode or stadiums) is the last game to be released in this chain of evolution.
The next release in the series broke the chain and was developed for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, to take advantage of the new next generation technology to the s (PES6 on Xbox360 being largely a tweaked port of previous generation). However, it soon became apparent to the media and game playing public that something very big had been lost with this change. The New Pro Evolution Soccer series (unofficial title), spanning Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 to present, represents a much less enjoyable and less sophisticated football simulation experience and many fans the world over have chosen to think of PES6 as sadly the last game in a discontinued series.

           1 :.......... DISC(S) .. GAME.TYPE ........: Sports

PES 2012 continues KONAMI's determination to listen to its fanbase and make
key improvements to the aspects the audience demands. Thus, the focus for
PES 2012 is to ensure the highest level of playability, challenge and
realism for the game, whilst also improving the level of control offered to
users. Fundamental changes to all areas of its AI have been made following
user feedback. Similarly, teamwork is central to how the game moves and
feels, enabling fans to replicate anything they would see in a real match.
Active AI: PES 2012 strives to recreate the movement and team ethic of real
football, and Active AI plays a vital role in this. Players will no longer
flock to a ball, but will make intelligent runs to create space and draw
markers, while others will make themselves available, instigate runs, and
visibly call for the ball. In the box, support players will make diagonal
decoy runs, s backs will overlap on the wings and midfielders will
provide support from behind the ball. The new Active AI routines ensure the
flow of a match is more natural, with specific routines for both attack and
defence. Hold-up play implemented last year has been improved for easier
control with more effectiveness. Defending as a unit plays a key role, and
players now hold a tight line, check on the distance between each other,
track back as a unit, and fill in for each other. As individuals they also
make better decisions to close space, block and tackle.

Jostling: Physicality is a key component in PES 2012, with player strength
one of their key individual attributes, and having a vital effect on how
they can use their strength to win the ball in a one-on-one situation.
Players now fall depending on how they are challenged, with more realistic
animations used to show the challenges between two jostling players.

Graphics: Several aspects of the game have enjoyed a huge overhaul. Player
facial expression is now much richer and the lighting effects are more
natural, while new cameras show off the huge variety of pitch-side
movement, with more detail on and around the game than ever before.

Off The Ball Control: Equally key to opening up PES 2012 is the ability to
highlight any player at any time. A new system has been implemented,
allowing users to switch players with ease. In defence, the right stick is
now used to select any outfield player, while set pieces are also enhanced
through its use. Goal kicks, corners, free kicks and throw-ins now let the
user quickly take control of any player off the ball, enabling clever runs
which create space for an attack.

Referee AI: Referees are also crucial to general game flow and their AI has
been greatly enhanced to ensure fewer interruptions to play. Decisions are
improved, and advantage is played much more regularly in offside and free
kick scenarios. As such, refs will only intervene when truly necessary, but
they will show cards if necessary once play has broken down.

Pass Support: Accessed through the new personal player settings, Pass
Support allows users to determine the level of AI assistance when passing
the ball. Players can opt for one of five settings from s support, right
up to s veteran setting which switches off all assistance so that the
direction, weight and speed of every pass is at their disposal.

The brand AVG comes from Grisoft's first product, "Anti-Virus Guard", launched in 1992 in Czechoslovakia. In 1997, the first AVG licenses were sold in Germany and UK. AVG was introduced in the U.S. in 1998.
The AVG Free Edition helped raise awareness of the AVG product line.
In 2006, the AVG security package grew to include anti-spyware, as AVG Technologies acquired ewido Networks, an anti-spyware group. That same year, Microsoft announced that AVG components would be available directly within the Windows Vista operating system.
AVG Technologies acquired Exploit Prevention Labs (XPL) in December 2007, and incorporated that company's LinkScanner safe search and surf technology into the AVG 8.0 security product range released in March 2008.
In January 2009, AVG Technologies acquired Sana Security, a developer of identity theft prevention software. This software was incorporated into the AVG security product range released in March 2009.
According to AVG Technologies, over 106 million users have AVG Anti-Virus protection, including users of the Free Edition.

Products

Versions for Windows desktop clients

AVG Technologies provides a number of products from the AVG range, suitable for Windows 2000 onwards. In addition to this, AVG Technologies also provides Linux, FreeBSD, and most recently Mac OS X versions of the software. AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 is available in free and commercial editions. AVG 9.0 has identity theft protection through a partnership with Intersections Inc., AVG 9.0 also adds white listing, behavioral protection and cloud operations to their signature-based blocking. The software adds the Resident Shield, firewall, and identity protection modules. The LinkScanner component has been improved to cut phishing threats further.  Version 9 was the last version compatible with Windows 2000.
For desktop protection of PC's running Windows, the AVG solutions include:
  • AVG Internet Security is a s suite which brings together the AVG Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, LinkScanner, Anti-Rootkit, Web Shield, Security Toolbar, Firewall, Anti-Spam, Identity Protection and System Tools protection components.
  • AVG Identity Protection provides protection against identity theft and unknown malware threats using behavioral monitoring.
  • AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall provides the Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, LinkScanner, Anti-Rootkit, Web Shield, Security Toolbar and Firewall protection components.
  • AVG Anti-spyware was a rebranded version of ewido Anti-Spyware,  that was integrated into AVG Anti-Virus as of version 8.0. A free version was also available, having now been merged into AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
  • AVG Anti-Rootkit was a free anti-Rootkit program that was discontinued as of late 2006. Like AVG Anti-Spyware, it has now been merged into AVG Anti-Virus
  • AVGADMIN is a remote administration tool, which allows the software to be managed centrally on networks.
  • AVG Anti-Virus provides the Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, LinkScanner, Anti-Rootkit, Web Shield, and Security Toolbar protection components.
  • AVG Search a search engine by AVG which provides less risk in internet searching.
    • Like other security products,  AVG disables Windows Defender.
  • AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition provides basic, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware protection, plus the s AVG LinkScanner safe search and surf technology. There are some limitations with AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition compared to the commercial versions of AVG products and other free antivirus. These limitations include:
    • Less protection – AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition provides the same anti-virus and anti-spyware scanning engine as the commercial product; however, it lacked anti-rootkit protection until 2010. The older 7.5 Free Edition is perfectly capable of finding and disabling rootkits based on signatures, but cannot scan for rootkit-like activity. The 8.5 version of AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition version lacks any anti-rootkit capability. While there is no official protection for files from messaging sources, the Resident Shield component automatically scans files before they are opened or copied.
    • Infrequent updates – AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition receives updates via a lower priority service. Priority updating via high-speed servers is only available for the commercial versions of AVG products.
    • No telephone or e-mail technical support – There is no telephone or e-mail technical support provided by AVG for users of AVG Free Edition products anywhere in the world. AVG Free Edition users have access to support via the self-help AVG Free Forum.
    • Less customization – Scheduling options in AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition are very limited (only one scheduled update per day). However, the AVG Resident Shield configuration allows exclusions. The on-demand/scheduled scanner allows advanced testing options such as heuristics and reporting of password-protected archives reporting. Process priority for on-demand/scheduled scans can be dynamically adjusted over three different configurations.
    • No server support – AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition cannot be installed on server operating systems (such as Windows Server 2003), nor can it be used for the scanning of network drives. Note, the newer AVG 2011 free edition can be installed on Server operating systems like Windows Server R2.
    • AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is only licensed for home and non-commercial use on a single computer.
AVG Free Edition has previously been responsible for popup ads advertising the non-free versions of AVG Anti-Virus and AVG Internet Security, which claim to provide more comprehensive levels of protection  AVG Anti-Virus 8.5 Free Edition users are now also subject to a daily pop-up advertising campaign for a "recommended upgrade" to AVG Internet Security. A "manager" on the AVG free version forum states that this advertisement appears once per day for one month each year.
All versions of the AVG products, excluding AVG Anti-Rootkit Free Edition (now discontinued), are compatible with the 64-bit edition of Windows.

Versions for servers

AVG Technologies also sells AVG anti-virus and Internet security solutions for web/file servers or email servers running either Linux, FreeBSD or Windows.
  • AVG Internet Security Business Edition provides centrally controlled protection for workstations and file servers, e-mail server and Microsoft SharePoint server protection, plus e-mail server based anti-spam protection.
  • AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition provides centrally controlled anti-virus and anti-spyware protection for workstations and file servers.
  • AVG File Server Edition provides anti-virus and anti-spyware protection for file servers.
  • AVG E-mail Server Edition provides anti-virus and anti-spyware protection for e-mail servers, plus e-mail server based anti-spam protection.

AVG for Linux/FreeBSD

With version 7.5, AVG Technologies is providing a solution for FreeBSD for the first time. AVG Technologies has incorporated spam detection in addition to virus detection for Linux/FreeBSD software .

Features

AVG features most of the common functions available in modern anti-virus and Internet security programs, including periodic scans, scans of sent and received emails (including adding footers to the emails indicating this), the ability to "repair" some virus-infected files, and aquarantine area: "virus vault/chest" in which infected files are held.

 LinkScanner

The patent pending LinkScanner technology acquired from Exploit Prevention Labs and built into most AVG products, provides real-time updated protection against exploits and drive-by downloads. LinkScanner includes: Search-Shield – a safe search component that places safety ratings next to each link in Google, Yahoo! and MSN search results; plus Active Surf-Shield – a safe surf component that scans the contents of a web site in real-time to ensure it's safe being opened.  Concerns regarding web analytics have made Link Scanner a controversial component (see "Link Scanner Concerns").

Concerns

When AVG 8.0 was first released, its LinkScanner safe search feature was shown to cause an increase in traffic on web sites that appear high in search engine results pages. Since LinkScanner disguises the scans as coming from an Internet Explorer 6 browser when it prescans each site listed in the search results, web site usage logs showed incorrect and overinflated site visitor statistics. The prescanning of every link in search results also caused web sites to transfer more data than usual, resulting in higher bandwidth usage for web site operators and slow performance for users.  AVG initially said site administrators would be able to filter the LinkScanner traffic out of their site statistics, leaving the problem of excess bandwidth usage still to be solved.  Pay-per-click advertising was not affected by the increase in traffic.
In response to complaints, AVG announced that as of July 9, 2008 "Search-Shield will no longer scan each search result online for new exploits, which was causing the spikes that webmasters addressed with us",  releasing a new build on that date that applies a local blacklist, then prefetches and scans only those links clicked on by the user.

Resource requirements

AVG usually supports several products and usually the two latest versions of each, as well as the AVG Beta Program. Additionally, each product is available for only certain operating environments ("System Requirements").
Version 2012 of AVG (Basic, Internet Security, ...) released in 2011. AVG also advertises 3rd party services to remove what AVG doesn't/can't.
Version 2011 of 5 AVG products (Free, Business, Home) for AVG & AVG Internet Security, ...)
Version 9 of AVG (Free, Internet Security, ...), released before June 2010.
Version 8.5, both AVG Anti-Virus and AVG Internet Security require at least 256 MB of RAM for the computer as a minimum.[17][18] The comparatively high use of paged physical RAM has led to crashes with some software, such as the Half-Life 2 series .
Version 7.5 of AVG Free requires a Pentium (or compatible) CPU with 300 MHz and between 64–256 MB of RAM, depending on operating system (at least 64 MB with Windows 9x, at least 128 MB with Windows 2000 or newer, with more RAM recommended).
An additional caveat with version 7.5 in Windows XP, which is a multi-user system that allows more than one user to be logged in at a time, is that scheduled scans ran as separate processes, which created a situation in which there were two scheduled scans, one in each active account, running simultaneously and causing heavy hard disk throttling and considerable system lag. This fault was finally fixed in version 8.0 of the program.
During its version 6.0 run, AVG was known for its conservative resource requirements . The AVG Anti-Virus Professional Edition required 16 MB of RAM and 20 MB of space on the hard drive

Problems

  • When uninstalling AVG version 7 or 8 in Windows XP/Vista and attempting to install other anti-virus programs such as Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Norton AntiVirus, the latter programs will not install. Instead, they show an "incompatible software installed" error even if the uninstalled software has been removed using the control panel. This happens because software that updates and changes can add registry entries that were not added when the product was originally installed (therefore the uninstaller is unaware of the registry keys).
  • A signature update dated November 9, 2008, crippled some computers, as it allowed the software to treat "user32.dll", a major component of Windows XP/Vista, as a trojan and advised users to delete it. Users who deleted the file in question were put on a continuous reboot loop. The problem was rectified a few days later with a new signature database and further safeguards were added to the product (270.9.0/1778).
  • Towards the end of July 2009, a software update caused the program to inform users that iTunes was infected  with a non-existent virus, Small.BOG. If users followed the recommended instructions, it would remove critical DLL files and corrupt the iTunes installation.
  • An update of AVG 2011 resulted in Windows 7 64-bit systems being caught up in a continuous reboot loop. The update has now been removed.
